Dorothy L. Humecky, 79 of Toms River, N.J., passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 18, 2024, at home, surrounded by her loving family, after a long battle with Dementia/Alzheimer's.
Dorothy was born in Manhattan, N.Y., the daughter of John and Martha (nee Reynolds) Weber. She grew up in the Jersey Shore area, living in several towns including Neptune and Bradley Beach, and raised her family in Rockaway Township, N.J. Her home and current address was in Toms River, N.J. Dorothy was a devoted, giving, and loved friend, mother, and wife. She took pride in her home and raising a family, always striving to make things special for them. She organized family parties and gatherings, making birthdays and holidays magical for her children. Dorothy had numerous interests such as reading, crocheting, and crafting. She was a hard worker and an entrepreneur, fearlessly trying new things to make money. She attended secretarial school and was an excellent typist, working as a secretary, and selling Fuller Brush for years with great success. She also ran a successful home cleaning company and found joy in helping others as a masseuse. Dorothy enjoyed visiting the Jersey Shore whenever she could and especially loved walking through Ocean Grove. She had a lifelong passion for jewelry and always tried to look her best when going out. In her spare time, she was an avid bowler and enjoyed baking holiday cookies. Predeceased by her parents and siblings, George and Charles Weber, Dorothy is survived by her devoted husband of 56 years, William Humecky; cherished children, William M. Humecky and his long-time partner, Dennis A. Superior, Paul A. Humecky and his wife Rebecca, and Joseph J. Humecky; precious grandchildren, Emmett and Adam Humecky; caring brother, John Weber and his wife Madeline; and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be on Wednesday, May 22, 2024 from 10-1 p.m. with a funeral service to begin at 1:00 p.m. at Gaita Memorial Home, 154 Newark Pompton Turnpike, Little Falls, N.J. Joal (my mom) and Dottie were life long friends. We visited often and I knew Dottie like a favorite aunt. I am glad she is free and making all kinds fun again.
